DUM ALOO




RECIPE OF DUM ALOO:

 



In india there are various types of traditional foods like Punjabi, Rajasthani, South Indian, Bangali foods. The popular dum aloo is a traditional north indian recipe wherein the aloo or potatoes are cooked with spices and tomato paste under pressure or dum. Devour the classic dum aloo ,cooked in a rich spicy gravy. As Dum aloo is concern its famous dish in all over India.


Ingredients:


Boiled Potato: 10-12 pieces small or medium size

Vegetable oil: to fry the potato

Tomato: 02 medium sizes

Corianders Leave: 01 small bunch

Cumin Seed:  half spoon

Cumin powder: half spoon

Black Pepper: 1/3 spoon

Curd: half cup

Ginger: Chopped half spoon

Garlic: Chopped half spoon

Green Chili: 2 -3 nos. half slice

Turmeric Powder: 1 spoon

Cashews Nut: 15-20 Pcs

Cream: If you like

Garam masala powder: 1 spoon



Method:






Peel and prick boiled potatoes all over with the help of fork. Heat the sufficient vegetable oil in the Kadai. Deeo fry the potatoes on medium heat till golden brown. Drain and keep it on absorbent paper and keep aside.

Heat oil in a Pan to smoking point, add cumin seed and red chili and cook on medium heat till the cumin seeds change the color.

Add the paste of Tomatoes, Ginger, Garlic, Green Chili, Cashews nut for a minute.

Add a little water and cook till tomatoes turn pulpy. Add red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and little water and stir it well. Add little water and salt. Mix well and simmer for 5-7 minutes or till the potatoes absorb the gravy.

 Add Garam Masala powder & curd. And stir. Remove from heat and serve hot after garnished with coriander leaves.



Note: if you like onion then you can add onion also with tomato paste.



Time: 40-45 minutes,
